About Me

Hello! I’m Avery Cunningham.

My journey with photography began during my childhood, capturing moments on family vacations and creating home videos. Though my family moved often, we eventually settled in Vermont, where my passion for storytelling through visuals continued to grow.

That passion led me to join the Vermont National Guard as a Public Affairs Specialist, where I received formal training from the Department of Defense in photography, videography, and storytelling. Over the years, I’ve built on that foundation through continued training, hands-on experience, and a deep commitment to honing my craft.

I served full-time with the Guard before transitioning to active duty in the Army. My work took me across Europe, Alaska, and now Wisconsin, where I worked as a photojournalist—telling the Army story through images, video, and written features. With over a decade of experience, I’ve captured everything from fast-paced action and portraits to ceremonies and personal milestones. This wide-ranging background allows me to confidently take on all types of photography sessions, adapting to each client’s unique needs.

I launched Fire Rosa Photography as a way to grow as an artist and serve my local community with the same dedication I brought to my military work. The name was inspired by my wife—my rose—and the word “Rosa” is a nod to her first language, Spanish.

At the core of everything I do are my values: integrity, hard work, and respect. I don’t just strive for great images—I take pride in doing things the right way, every step of the process.

If you ever have questions or concerns, I’m always open and happy to chat. I look forward to helping you tell your story—one meaningful moment at a time.
